Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the Project Director (Electrical) will lead project operations spanning multiple concurrent data centre contracts. The role demands meeting schedules, budgets, and quality standards while exceeding client expectations. You will manage senior project staff and uphold Designer Group's values through proactive leadership and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop thorough understanding of project deliverables, stakeholder roles including client, employer’s agent, professional team, main contractor, FM provider, and subcontractors.
• Ensure all interface agreements during design phase are finalized to guarantee smooth construction execution.
• Maintain an active risk register throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prioritize resolving conflicts arising post-RDD process to protect contractual obligations.
• Review and obtain approval for all documentation before site works commence to mitigate risks.
• Evaluate third-party information for changes and manage change control procedures, focusing on commercial risk and cost recovery.
• Ensure adherence to Designer Group’s Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
• Lead operational delivery of the Vienna data centre project, managing the onsite team.
• Plan and control procurement strategies and subcontractor packages.
• Manage project costs, including cost control measures and value engineering initiatives.
• Oversee design development, technical submissions, drawings, and contractor design contributions.
• Monitor each project phase from pre-construction to completion, managing schedules and progress reporting.
• Ensure all project milestones, deadlines, and deliverables are successfully met.
• Handle completion-related documentation such as operation and maintenance manuals.
• Maintain comprehensive records of site and client meetings.
• Champion Designer Group’s standards and interests throughout project duration.
• Oversee M&E project operation ensuring safe, quality, timely, and budget-compliant execution.
• Manage labor needs, program milestones, and progress tracking.
• Control budgets, material usage, variations, and resources effectively.
• Coordinate installation activities and lead communication with clients, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Chair project, design, and subcontractor progress meetings.
• Monitor installation to ensure readiness for commissioning on schedule.
• Manage financial performance including variations and valuations to achieve profit targets.
• Uphold Health & Safety compliance per company and project standards.

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in a similar mechanical and electrical project leadership role with significant project delivery results.
• Strong technical expertise in the mechanical and electrical engineering domain.
• Self-driven with an ability to take initiative and own responsibilities.
• Excellent organizational skills with proficiency in prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
• Comfortable working under pressure with multitasking capabilities and meeting strict deadlines.
• High attention to technical details with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal, written, and presentation communication abilities.
• Confidence in engaging with stakeholders across all seniority levels.
• A positive, collaborative approach that fosters professional relationship-building.
• Relevant qualifications such as HNC, Degree, or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering disciplines.
