About the Role

Designer Group is looking for Graduate Mechanical Engineers to join their expanding teams in Ballycoolen, Fingal, Ireland. This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates in Mechanical Engineering aiming to develop their careers with a premier international mechanical and electrical contractor. The role offers practical experience on live projects, collaborating with experienced engineers, project personnel, commercial teams, and site leadership.

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to delivering mechanical building services across various sectors including commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, data centers, residential, energy, and infrastructure projects. The position combines office and site activities to provide a comprehensive understanding of mechanical system design, coordination, installation, testing, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project teams in delivering mechanical services from planning through to installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Support technical reviews, preparation of drawings, specifications, submittals, and managing project documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and site teams to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
  • Uphold quality standards, safety protocols, and compliance across mechanical works.
  • Contribute to progress monitoring, reporting, materials coordination, and resolving issues.
  • Gain insight into M&E contracting, construction sequencing, scheduling, and meeting client expectations.
  • Enhance technical knowledge of mechanical systems, site coordination, and engineering best practices.
  • Engage in ongoing training, mentoring, and professional development throughout the graduate program.

Requirements

  • Possess a Level 7 or Level 8 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in mechanical building services, M&E contracting, and construction delivery.
  • Exhibit solid communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Work effectively in team settings and accept guidance from senior engineers and project leaders.
  • Show a proactive work ethic, eagerness to learn, and adaptability to both office and site environments.
  • Be available to commence work immediately or on short notice.
  • Preferred qualifications include prior internships or site experience in construction, M&E, building services, utilities, energy, pharmaceutical, commercial, or data centre projects.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical drawings, schematics, technical specifications, and construction documents is advantageous.
  • Experience or familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Microsoft Project, Excel, or similar engineering/project management tools is desirable.
  • Interest in pursuing chartership and continuous professional development (CPD).
