Role Overview
The Project Development Manager plays a crucial leadership role by steering the initial planning, preconstruction, and initiation phases of high voltage electrical engineering projects. This position bridges client expectations with project delivery, managing strategic client relationships, and ensuring alignment before handing over projects to execution teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary liaison for clients during preconstruction, building strong strategic partnerships and understanding client goals.
- Lead business development efforts to discover and nurture new opportunities, positioning the company as the preferred partner in high voltage electrical engineering projects.
- Direct the project's strategic course until formal contracts are secured, ensuring value and alignment with client expectations.
- Organize and conduct comprehensive project kick-off meetings with senior leaders and project teams to define objectives and scope.
- Collaborate with departments such as Procurement, Estimating, and Engineering to develop aligned project strategies, resource plans, and budgets.
- Establish a high-level roadmap outlining major milestones, deliverables, and success criteria.
- Form and guide a cross-functional project team, allocating resources suited to the project's technical details and complexity.
- Provide leadership and ensure effective communication at all organizational levels to meet project goals.
- Monitor team performance and progress to keep the project within time and budget constraints.
- Manage completion of all preconstruction deliverables, securing client contracts by thoroughly reviewing all commercial, technical, and contractual conditions.
- Ensure smooth transition of projects to execution teams, maintaining client and internal stakeholder engagement through project initiation.
- Identify and mitigate risks during the development phase to sustain project stability and meet client expectations.
- Guarantee compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and quality management systems throughout preconstruction.
- Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement of project development processes and client engagement practices.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, project management, business, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in project development or senior project management within high-voltage electrical EPC sectors.
- Proven track record in managing client relationships, strategic business development, and securing large-scale project contracts.
- In-depth knowledge of high voltage electrical infrastructures, regulatory frameworks, and preconstruction methodologies.
- Strong leadership abilities paired with strategic thinking and solid business insight.
- Excellent communicator and negotiator skilled in fostering client relationships.
- Highly organized with a focus on managing complex projects and driving results.
- Adept at problem-solving in challenging project environments.
- Capable of leading diverse teams to achieve exceptional performance.
