Opportunity Overview

This position is a fixed-term/secondment role for 40 hours weekly, lasting until April 2027, located at Whare Koa Community House in the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu local board area. The work schedule will run Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Role Purpose

Whare Koa Community House supports a diverse community. We seek a flexible, proactive generalist experienced in collaborating with community groups and partners to help plan and execute programmes, events, and activities serving the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu community. The coordinator will handle daily operations, foster strong team culture, and maintain active engagement with local board and community stakeholders, also supporting the Māngere Community Hub team.

The role emphasizes modeling exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to promote a welcoming, connected environment for all visitors and staff (kaimahi).

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, able to build cohesive relationships with place host staff and support the Venue Lead to ensure outstanding community services. Key traits include collaboration in programming and events, effective communication with colleagues and partners, meticulous attention to detail, time management, adaptability to new systems, stakeholder relationship building, capacity to support staff, passion for community impact, and embracing Te Ao Māori values and principles daily.

Role Impact

The Programme Coordinator will represent Whare Koa Community House, delivering excellent customer service, managing program/event planning and implementation, supporting community hub events, maintaining a safe environment, and connecting community members to council services. This role contributes to creating inclusive, thriving community spaces.
