About The Team

The Product Design team collaborates across several groups to define and deliver all user-facing experiences of Stripe’s brand and product. Product Design Managers engage closely with Engineering, Product Management, Data Science, and Marketing to shape strategy, vision, and execution for key initiatives that enhance the support experience for Stripe’s diverse customer base.

The Global Payments team builds upon Stripe’s core financial products to empower businesses globally, reducing the complexity of international operations. Due to the extensive volume of payments processed hourly, designers in this team focus on excellence and reliability, making this an opportunity to create influential, high-quality work.

Role Overview

Leading the Global Payments Design team, you will craft experiences that simplify global commerce for businesses. The team focuses on cross-border commerce solutions, including local payment methods, global tax compliance, region-specific consumer experiences, and cross-border money transfers. Your leadership will help businesses, especially rapidly scaling companies, seamlessly reach customers worldwide.

You will manage and expand a team of seasoned designers adept at handling ambiguity and delivering impactful user experience improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a vital design team distributed across EMEA and APAC regions.
• Recruit and expand the team aligned with business needs and opportunities for employee development.
• Collaborate with Product Management leaders to shape and prioritize existing and new product features.
• Coordinate across Stripe’s various teams to foster collaboration, enabling comprehensive solutions across a horizontal product landscape.
• Engage with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and senior leadership to accelerate decisions, clarify objectives, and uplift design quality and impact.
• Inspire and guide designers at all experience levels to reach their highest potential.

Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years in people management roles.
• At least 8 years of design experience in technology or product-focused companies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven ability to motivate and inspire design teams.
• Experience in recruiting and building product design teams.
• Strong focus on user-centered design principles.
• Experience designing for complex platforms and enterprise-level software.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Collaboration-oriented working style.
• Ability to balance speed, quality, and taking calculated design risks.

Work Environment

Employees are generally expected to spend at least half of their working time in the local office each month to facilitate in-person collaboration and user engagement, though this may vary by team and location. Some roles require full-time office presence.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position based in the primary location is £118,400 to £177,600, adjustable based on location and other factors. Compensation may include equity, bonuses, retirement plans, health coverage, and wellness stipends. Specific salary details for other locations will be provided during interviews.
