Job description
About Stripe
Stripe serves as a leading financial infrastructure platform enabling businesses globally—from startups to major enterprises—to accept payments and expand their commercial opportunities. Our mission centers on growing the internet’s GDP, presenting candidates with a unique chance to impact the global economy significantly through meaningful work.
About the Team
The Financial Crimes, Compliance, and Risk Oversight (FinCRO) organization acts as Stripe’s second line of defense, ensuring responsible operation within the financial ecosystem. The Product Enablement group bridges compliance and product teams, collaborating closely with product and engineering units to design compliant, innovative financial products from inception.
Role Overview
The role seeks an advisor specializing in product enablement to assist in responsibly launching ambitious new products. You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, Go-to-Market, Legal, and Risk teams from the earliest design phases to market release. Your guidance will clarify regulatory and financial crime considerations influencing product design, helping product teams make timely, informed decisions.
Your expertise and sound judgment will support shaping product roadmaps and design choices, ensuring compliance requirements are efficiently translated into actionable expectations on product controls and reporting. In addition, you will influence governance and board-level engagements by preparing documentation and monitoring implementation statuses.
Partnerships with Regional Compliance Officers, legal advisors, and subject matter experts will be critical to address complex product features. Moreover, you will champion a “compliant by design” philosophy by simplifying and standardizing compliance norms for product and business teams, thereby fostering a culture of compliance company-wide.
Finally, the role involves leveraging AI and autonomous tools to enhance compliance enablement processes such as risk assessment acceleration, regulatory research, and requirement documentation while ensuring rigorous oversight of AI outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate from product ideation through launch to integrate innovative ideas while addressing compliance and financial crime risks early.
- Lead compliance evaluations and risk assessments for significant new products or feature expansions, delivering clear, risk-informed recommendations.
- Drive product roadmap influence by converting compliance standards into precise, practical requirements affecting products, controls, and monitoring/reporting mechanisms.
- Support governance initiatives and executive board engagements, including thorough documentation and tracking of compliance implementations.
- Apply first-principles thinking to resolve novel product challenges, guiding teams toward feasible and sustainable solutions.
- Work closely with specialized compliance, legal, and risk teams to support multifaceted product designs.
- Empower product and business teams by clarifying compliance obligations and enabling autonomous adherence to consistent standards.
- Contribute actively to cultivating a robust and pervasive culture of compliance across Stripe.
- Utilize AI and agentic technologies to scale compliance tasks, such as risk analysis, regulatory studies, and routine documentation, while maintaining critical human judgment over AI-generated results.
Qualifications
- At least nine years of experience establishing and managing compliance programs within regulated financial sectors, preferably fintech, payments, or banking.
- Proven track record in assessing compliance risks for novel products, collaborating with multidisciplinary stakeholders to devise compliant solutions, and conducting comprehensive product risk evaluations.
- Deep knowledge of regulatory compliance, financial crime, and AML frameworks aligned with risks faced by companies like Stripe.
- Ability to independently manage multiple complex projects from ambiguous initial inquiries through to full implementation.
- Skilled at interpreting regulatory texts and guidance, identifying core risk drivers, and crafting balanced, effective compliance programs reflecting these insights.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills capable of simplifying intricate regulatory concepts for varied audiences, especially non-compliance stakeholders.
- Strong aptitude for building collaborative relationships across functions and managing competing priorities effectively, including engagement with senior leadership.
- Natural curiosity with readiness to navigate novel markets, products, and regulatory environments.
- Demonstrated sound judgment and autonomy within dynamic and ambiguous professional settings.
- Passion for advancing financial product innovation responsibly by scaling compliant solutions.
- Experience with AI, showcasing creativity and discernment in applying agentic tools to improve compliance processes, including risk assessment and knowledge management while overseeing AI outputs carefully.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
- Exposure to AI or agentic tools in regulatory/compliance functions such as policy drafting, research, assessment, or workflow automation.
- Background in compliance related to stablecoins, cryptocurrencies, or cutting-edge payment methods.
- Recognized certifications such as ACAMS, CRCM, ICA Diploma, or equivalent advanced credentials.
Work Environment and Expectations
This position is based in Dublin, Ireland, requiring at least 50% on-site attendance monthly, balancing in-person collaboration with flexibility. Certain roles, including those in this location, may expect 100% office presence depending on team needs.
