Role Overview

The Produce Clerk plays a crucial role in ensuring customers find the produce they want quickly and easily. By keeping the produce section well-stocked and attractive, this position enhances the shopping experience and builds customer loyalty. Comprehensive training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to all company standards, policies, and procedures diligently.
• Greet customers warmly and assist them as needed.
• Deliver excellent customer service in line with Safeway's programs.
• Stock produce and related items including frozen, perishable, and non-perishable products.
• Create and maintain appealing merchandise displays according to company guidelines.
• Rotate products to ensure freshness and quality.
• Manage loading and unloading of products for the sales floor.
• Take care of backroom organization and inventory control.
• Operate cash registers as required during busy periods.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Qualifications and Skills

• No prior experience necessary; full training offered.
• Quick learner capable of adapting to new tasks efficiently.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Highly motivated with a collaborative team spirit.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Committed to providing outstanding customer service.
• Dedicated to working safely and responsibly.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, especially evenings and weekends.
• Must be available for shifts on Sundays.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift items weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Regularly perform reaching and gripping movements.
• Often bend, walk, stand, twist, push, or pull during shifts.
• Occasionally lift heavier items between 20 to 50 pounds.
• Use computers and point-of-sale systems sporadically.
• Occasionally crouch, kneel, or squat.
