Process Development Engineer: Moulding Engineer

About the Role

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, a world-renowned medical device manufacturer, seeks a Process Development Engineer specializing in thermoplastic and silicone injection moulding processes. You will join a collaborative team of 100 engineers to design and implement manufacturing solutions that bring innovative healthcare products to market. This position involves working closely with mechanical and control engineers to create custom injection moulding solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with product development teams to ensure the feasibility, manufacturability, and assembly efficiency of moulded components.
• Collaborate with operations engineers and production stakeholders to define and refine moulding process requirements and outputs.
• Work alongside toolmakers, providing detailed specifications and co-developing injection mould tooling.
• Specify, procure, commission, and validate advanced injection moulding machinery.
• Engage hands-on in commissioning, optimizing, and validating moulding processes prior to production rollout, integrating with other high-quality manufacturing equipment.
• Create measurement systems to validate injection moulding processes ensuring parts meet functional requirements and downstream usability.
• Document all aspects of equipment performance, testing, analysis, and risk management to maintain manufacturing quality standards for medical devices.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a technical engineering qualification such as a Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent.
• Have relevant industry experience with moulding, or sound knowledge of polymers, Moldflow simulation software, CAD, mould tools, injection moulding processes, and manufacturing equipment.
• A collaborative team player with strong communication capabilities.
• Ability to foster strong relationships across diverse teams.
• Demonstrate a solution-oriented engineering mindset focused on problem-solving.
