Role Overview

As a Privacy Engineer on our Privacy Engineering team within the Security organization, you will develop and maintain technical safeguards, automation, and tools designed to protect personal data across our software products and systems. Your work will leverage software engineering combined with AI-assisted methods to enhance privacy evaluations, data handling procedures, and telemetry management at scale. Close collaboration with Engineering, Product, Data, Legal, and Privacy teams is vital to embed privacy principles thoroughly throughout our cloud-based product ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Create and deploy agent-driven workflows for key privacy engineering operations including privacy review intake, data subject rights processing, data inventory maintenance, and telemetry classification.
• Develop AI-powered tools to aid engineering teams in identifying privacy risks early and implementing proper safeguards more efficiently.
• Implement and refine privacy mechanisms addressing data authorization, scope management, retention and deletion policies, consent management, and secure data access.
• Integrate privacy-related tooling into engineering processes and systems such as CI/CD pipelines, code review platforms, data catalogs, ticketing tools, and internal services.
• Enhance log and telemetry processing through data classification, minimization, and redaction to balance operational visibility with privacy.
• Improve privacy procedures, both manual and semi-automated, by building scalable, consistent, and auditable solutions to accelerate workflows.
• Produce high-quality production code, documentation, and tests, plus maintain operational workflows through monitoring, evaluation, and iterative improvements.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience developing and delivering production software in SaaS, cloud, or comparably complex engineering environments.
• Strong skills in one or more backend languages such as Python, TypeScript, or Go, and solid fundamentals in testing, debugging, version control, and sustainable software design.
• Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs) or related AI frameworks involving agents, tool use pipelines, or multi-step orchestration tasks.
• Proficiency integrating software with external systems through APIs, databases, ticketing platforms, CI/CD pipelines, or data platforms.
• Working knowledge of privacy and data-handling practices including data minimization, access control, data retention and destruction, consent management, and privacy-conscious telemetry implementation.
• Ability to independently manage well-defined projects or workstreams end to end and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in Security, Engineering, Product, Data, and Legal and Privacy.
• Advantageous: Familiarity with privacy regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA, along with expertise in workflows for data subject rights, data inventories, third-party integrations, threat modeling, privacy reviews, prompt design, LLM output validation, reliability techniques, or privacy guarantees for AI-powered features.

Compensation & Benefits

For Canadian employees, the annual base salary ranges from 111000 CAD to 155000 CAD.
