Job description

Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Principal Technical Program Manager to oversee some of the most critical AI infrastructure initiatives across the EMEA region. This individual will operate at the nexus of strategy, execution, technology, and regional program delivery, facilitating Microsoft's support of strategic AI partners, customers, and stakeholders within a dynamic and complex environment characterized by shifting technology pathways, evolving GPU designs, and rapid growth in demand.

The Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) division at Microsoft underpins our cloud services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Azure platform. The data center infrastructure comprises over 200 centers in 32 countries, supporting services utilized by over 1 billion users and 20 million businesses worldwide. CO+I emphasizes development through training programs, career rotations, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and certification opportunities.

Environmental sustainability and operational optimization are priorities as the data center environment continues to adapt to Microsoft’s status as a premier cloud provider globally. Microsoft fosters a culture grounded in respect, integrity, accountability, and inclusion aiming to empower every individual and organization to achieve more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct large-scale AI infrastructure projects across EMEA, covering areas like datacenter infrastructure, computing, networking, power, cooling, capacity planning, and emergent GPU technologies.
  • Craft and implement integrated program strategies, establish governance, define milestones and success criteria, balancing commercial priorities, technical restrictions, regional nuances, and partner expectations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, delivery, capacity planning, commerce, and operations units to expedite AI capacity rollouts, while managing risks, interdependencies, and mitigation plans.
  • Provide technical oversight on AI infrastructure technologies, balancing trade-offs and aligning client needs with platform capabilities in a fast-evolving landscape.
  • Navigate uncertain environments by synthesizing incomplete data, developing scenario-based plans, and communicating intricate technical and strategic decisions to aid leadership choices.
  • Forge collaborations across various functions such as Engineering, Capacity Management, Supply Chain, Construction, Datacenter Operations, Strategic Partnerships, Finance, and Executive teams to drive cross-disciplinary programs, influence prioritization, and deliver high-level progress and risk reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in technical or engineering program management, infrastructure delivery, cloud computing, or similar fields.
  • Proven track record managing complex, cross-functional programs in large-scale enterprise or hyperscale cloud settings.
  • Strong capacity to coordinate multifaceted programs involving multiple teams and regions.
  • Eligibility to clear Microsoft and related security clearances, including recurring background checks every two years.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to AI infrastructure technologies, GPU computing platforms, supercomputing, or hyperscale cloud capacity provisioning.
  • Direct engagement with strategic external customers or partners.
  • Insight into supply chain management, capacity forecasting, infrastructure investment, and decision-making frameworks.
  • Ability to operate effectively in rapidly changing tech environments with high ambiguity.
  • Familiarity with regulatory, power, connectivity, and data center market factors relevant to the EMEA region.
  • Demonstrated impact in delivering strategic, global scale initiatives.
