We are offering a distinctive opportunity for a Principal Planner/Team Leader to join and inspire our national Planning team based in Wellington. The role involves leadership and mentorship of senior staff, driving business growth, and maintaining high standards of technical excellence to meet client needs effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a Wellington Planning Team comprising four direct reports.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and coaching for Technical Directors and Team Leaders.
- Oversee client-facing project workstreams ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists, including Ecology & Marine Science, Environmental Services, Acoustics & Vibration, Hydrology & Hydrogeology, and Landscape Architecture to meet utilisation goals.
- Support the advancement and expansion of Planning Services aligned with SLR's mission and values.
- Mitigate commercial risks by reviewing project outputs and enforcing quality standards.
- Maintain and grow professional expertise by staying current with industry trends and participating in technical and professional organizations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess over a decade of experience in planning and resource management.
- Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in resource management planning.
- Proven leadership experience in managing leaders and driving a high-performing team.
- Demonstrate commercial acumen and a respected reputation that drives recurring and new business opportunities.
- Skilled in cultivating enduring, trusted client relationships.
- Consistently meets performance targets and fosters professional growth within teams.
- Detail-oriented, effectively completing assignments on schedule and within budget.
- Proficient in analytical assessment and reporting.
