Role Overview

This permanent full-time job is located in Brisbane’s CBD. The initial focus will be on supporting a significant greenfield rail project in South East Queensland, which includes constructing dual-track rail lines, tunnels, stations, and stabling facilities—an extensive development poised to shape the region's transportation framework for years to come.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and vet electrical design solutions across high voltage (HV), low voltage (LV), and traction power systems during the project lifecycle.
• Create and verify technical documentation, including drawings, calculations, and specifications, for major electrical equipment like switchboards and UPS systems.
• Ensure design outputs comply with project needs, safety standards, environmental guidelines, and operational requirements.
• Collaborate and coordinate across multiple disciplines and internal-external stakeholder teams.
• Engage in design reviews and technical working groups to resolve complex issues with clients and project partners.
• Oversee allocated design schedules and budgets, identifying and escalating risks as necessary.
• Function as a key technical authority, mentoring engineering staff and fostering a culture of engineering excellence.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, engineering science, or a related discipline.
• Recognized Chartered Professional Engineer.
• Brings at least 15 years of pertinent industry experience, preferably within the rail sector.
• Possesses deep expertise in HV and LV electrical design, including familiarity with standards AS/NZS 3000, 3008, and 2067.
• Strongly preferred experience in traction power system design for substantial rail projects.
• Experienced in delivering engineering solutions in safety-critical domains such as rail, defence, automotive, or avionics.
• Exceptional communicator with sound judgment and the ability to mentor, manage priorities, and engage stakeholders effectively.
