Job Overview

WSP in the Middle East is looking for an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer specializing in mission critical systems to lead comprehensive electrical design projects for data centers. The successful candidate will ensure all designs conform to stringent standards of reliability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert client needs into detailed electrical designs covering medium and low voltage distribution, generators, UPS systems, switchgear, busducts, grounding, power monitoring, and fire alarm systems.
  • Create technical documents including calculations, system studies, single-line diagrams, layouts, specifications, block diagrams, and compliance matrices.
  • Lead design reviews at conceptual and detailed phases using analytical tools and BIM/Revit, coordinating with architecture, mechanical, and building technology teams.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers, disseminate best practices in mission-critical electrical design, and promote continuous team improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with regional and global colleagues to enhance consulting capabilities and maintain global standards.
  • Develop and implement scalable, repeatable data center electrical solutions to ensure consistency and operational efficiency across UAE and Saudi Arabia.
  • Conduct site assessments, plan capacity, and evaluate feasibility following Uptime Institute Tier standards.
  • Ensure adherence to international standards including Uptime Institute, TIA-942, NFPA, ASHRAE, and local codes.
  • Support business growth by contributing to proposals, client presentations, and identifying opportunities to expand service offerings.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Hold at least 10 years of progressive experience in designing and delivering large-scale data centers, including multiple Uptime Tier III and IV projects.
  • Skilled in coordinating with diverse stakeholders within complex organizational structures.
  • Certifications such as Uptime Tier Certified Professional, PMP, LEED AP, or BICSI RCDD are highly valuable.
  • Expertise in data center electrical infrastructure, power distribution configurations, server and network systems, SCADA, power management, ELV, and security systems.
  • Experienced in designing data center construction phasing and related design planning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities suitable for client engagement and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Knowledge of local and international standards including NEC, IEC, ISO 50001, ISO 27001, PDPL, and ESMA regulations.
