Contracts Engineer

Job Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Contracts Engineer to be part of our Site Supervision team based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will support major transport, road, and utility infrastructure projects, ensuring contract adherence and commercial compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage construction contracts aligning with project specifications and contractual terms.
• Assess and process contract variations, change requests, claims, and requests for extensions of time.
• Collaborate with the Resident Engineer and Project Director on all contractual and commercial issues.
• Draft and manage contractual correspondence, including notices, recommendations, and detailed reports.
• Ensure contractors meet their contractual obligations and project milestones.
• Evaluate payment applications, contributing to contract-related assessments and recommendations.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of contractual communications, change orders, and instructions.
• Provide support in resolving disputes and assist in claims evaluation processes.
• Identify potential commercial and contractual risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with project controls, quantity surveyors, and supervision teams to maintain consistent commercial management.
• Offer contract administration support throughout construction and project completion phases.
• Engage in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and contractors to discuss contractual matters.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related fields.
• At least 10 years’ professional experience in contract administration and commercial management.
• Proven track record working on transport, road, highways, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
• Extensive experience as part of engineering or supervision consultancy teams on major infrastructure developments.
• Substantial experience working within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly in Jeddah, Riyadh or other key locations.
• In-depth knowledge of FIDIC and other international contract standards.
• Skilled in handling contract variations, claims, change management, and extension of time evaluations.
• Strong report writing, negotiation, and communication capabilities.
• Competence in functioning effectively within multidisciplinary site supervision teams.
• Professional certifications and memberships in relevant bodies are advantageous.
• Note: Candidates mainly experienced in building construction contractor roles, design consultancy, or corporate/head office contract administration are discouraged from applying.
