Primary Teacher Role Overview

We invite applications for the permanent, full-time position of Primary Teacher. This role involves crafting a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that empowers primary students to reach their full potential. Students benefit from holistic educational experiences alongside opportunities to engage in sports, arts, and cultural activities within a beautiful natural setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement engaging, age-appropriate lessons tailored for primary-aged children.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions into school through responsive and supportive teaching methods.
  • Build solid foundations in early literacy, numeracy, and inquiry-driven learning.
  • Customize learning plans to accommodate diverse student needs, strengths, and interests.
  • Regularly evaluate and report student progress to guide subsequent learning steps.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere encouraging wellbeing and a sense of belonging.
  • Encourage student confidence, autonomy, positive behaviours, and social skills development.
  • Establish effective partnerships with parents and caregivers to enhance student learning and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with peers and actively contribute to Junior School programs and staff development.

Candidate Profile

  • Possession of New Zealand Teacher registration along with relevant teaching qualifications (a BA and/or MBA is expected).
  • Background teaching primary school year levels.
  • Potential opportunities for senior leadership roles for qualified candidates.
  • Deep understanding of child development and transition-to-school strategies.
  • Familiarity with structured literacy frameworks and evidence-based instructional methods.
  • Strong classroom management capabilities combined with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team including collaboration with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Commitment to inclusive and culturally responsive teaching addressing diverse learner requirements.
