Presales Engineer – ICT Infrastructure & Physical Security

Role Overview

The Presales Engineer will manage the technical elements throughout the bidding process, converting client requirements, tender documents, and site assessments into fully costed, compliant, and feasible solutions involving ICT infrastructure and physical security/ELV systems. The role involves preparing technical designs, drawings, BOQs, and compliance documents to produce compelling technical proposals, while ensuring a smooth transition to the project delivery team.

Responsibilities

• Examine Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), tender specifications, technical drawings, and site specifics to clearly define project scope, identify gaps, assess risks, and outline requirements.
• Create comprehensive end-to-end designs for ICT infrastructure and physical security/ELV solutions.
• Develop technical designs, AutoCAD drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), material take-offs, compliance matrices, and detailed technical proposals.
• Carry out technical computations including CCTV coverage, video management system (VMS) storage, network bandwidth, Power over Ethernet (PoE) requirements, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) sizing, fiber optic links, rack elevations, heat dissipation, cable length estimation, and pathway capacity planning.
• Identify and select suitable products and technologies by considering technical specs, cost-efficiency, lifecycle, licensing, and client standards.
• Conduct detailed site surveys, walk-down inspections, and verify as-built documentation.
• Present proposed solutions to clients, consultants, and end users, addressing technical clarifications during meetings.
• Liaise with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and distributors to obtain technical assistance, pricing, product data, and necessary approvals.
• Assist with product demonstrations, proofs of concept, and pilot project setups.
• Ensure delivery teams receive comprehensive technical handover, supporting submittals, RFIs, and executing design modifications during project implementation.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Possess more than 5 years of experience in presales, solution design, or design engineering, preferably within a systems integrator, ELV contractor, or technology vendor environment.
• Proven track record overseeing tender processes from inception to completion, including solution design, BOQ preparation, compliance documentation, and technical proposal development.
• Expertise in structured cabling systems with solid understanding of copper and fiber infrastructure, LAN/WAN networks, switching, routing, VLAN configurations, PoE, Wi-Fi technologies, and data center/server room infrastructure.
• Deep knowledge of CCTV systems, VMS, access control, intrusion detection, intercoms, barriers, turnstiles, and other ELV systems.
• Hands-on experience with VMS platforms such as Milestone, Genetec, Bosch, Axis, Hanwha, Hikvision, or equivalent technologies.
• Advanced skills in AutoCAD, enabling production of precise and professional technical drawings.
