Role Overview

As a key member of BGIS’s Sustainable Cleaning Solutions team, you will be responsible for cleaning duties within an assigned area, with a strong focus on quality control, health and safety standards, and exceeding client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform floor cleaning including sweeping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and polishing hard surface floors using manual or automatic equipment.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors, either manually or with power machines as needed.
• Clean washroom floors including stripping and finishing tasks.
• Remove snow and debris from walkways, driveways, and parking areas using appropriate equipment and chemicals.
• Transport garbage to disposal points and move maintenance machinery between floors or sites.
• Store and maintain cleaning equipment and machinery after use.
• Clean glass areas requiring ladders or scaffolding.
• Manage loading and unloading of supplies and replenishing cleaning materials.
• Follow proper procedures for using chemical cleaners and equipment to avoid damage to surfaces.
• Notify management about major repairs or maintenance needs in building systems.
• Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and detergents according to specifications.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors and management.

Job Requirements

• Prior experience in various cleaning, housekeeping, and maintenance tasks within institutional settings.
• Proficiency with floor maintenance machinery, cleaning tools, materials, and chemical solutions.
• Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety regulations including WHMIS standards applicable to the role.
• Physical capacity to lift, push, pull heavy objects and climb ladders.
• Strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, and the public.
• Willingness and ability to work weekends, holidays, various shifts, and at multiple locations as required.
• Capability to follow verbal and written instructions and keep both manual and electronic records.

Licenses and Clearances

• Must pass security clearance if required.
• Possession of a valid Class G driver’s license may be necessary.

Physical Demands

• This position requires occasional lifting or moving of items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Compensation

This is a regular full-time or part-time position offering an hourly wage ranging from $17.60 to $20.88, determined based on the candidate’s experience, education, and performance related to the role.
