Job description
Overview
Join Royal Mail as a Postal Delivery Driver based at the Bicester Delivery Office (OX26 4ZZ). This permanent contract role pays £13.68 per hour with paid overtime opportunities. You will work 37 hours per week across a rotating 5-day schedule within a 7-day week, including some weekends and 1-2 Sundays per month. Hours are roughly between 09:30 and 18:00, with delivery routes and hours varying depending on demand.
Key Duties
- Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office.
- Deliver post locally by van and on foot.
- Establish and maintain good relations with customers.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Walk long distances daily (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps).
- Drive a Royal Mail van every day.
- Handle a high volume of letters and parcels, particularly during busy periods.
- Work under time pressure and in varying weather.
Candidate Profile
- Must hold a full manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points and it should be registered to your current name and address.
- Willing and able to pass a driving assessment to operate the Royal Mail van.
- Physically fit and capable of walking long distances, climbing stairs or hills, and lifting/carrying mailbags over 10kg.
- Reliable and self-driven with strong organisational skills and resilience in a busy environment.
- Customer-oriented with a commitment to excellent service.
- Comfortable working independently outdoors.
