About the Position

The Wireless Research Centre at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, invites applications for a fixed-term, full-time Postdoctoral Fellow position focused on advancing next-generation AI-enabled networking systems over two years. This role emphasizes research at the junction of networking technologies and artificial intelligence models.

Key Responsibilities

You will be tasked with conducting research projects primarily involving AI and networking, working independently and creatively while being mentored by the Centre's Director, Fred Samandari. Collaborations will be encouraged across the departments of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as partnerships with other academic disciplines and industry stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline is expected.
• Deep expertise in deep learning, large language models (LLMs), computer networks, systems, or wireless networks.
• Research experience in wireless sensor networks, IoT, vehicular networks, cloud/edge computing, or AI systems.
• Proven track record of publishing in respected IEEE or ACM conferences and journals.
• Strong skills in quantitative analysis and data interpretation.
• Proficiency in delivering effective oral presentations to diverse audiences.
• Excellent communication abilities, capable of explaining complex topics to both scientific and lay audiences.
• Capacity to work productively both autonomously and as part of a large, interdisciplinary team.

Working Environment
