Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Plastics Injection Molding Die Setter to join our manufacturing team in Hamilton. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will collaborate with Plastics Operations, Tool & Die, and Maintenance teams to optimize and maintain molding machines and die-sets, ensuring high-quality, reliable production. This pivotal hands-on role is central to production setup and change-over, directly influencing production uptime, product quality, and cost efficiency.
Shift & Roster
Enjoy a balanced work-life schedule with a 4 days on, 4 days off roster. Choose between:
- Day Shift: 8:00 am – 8:00 pm
- Night Shift: 8:00 pm – 8:00 am
This pattern provides extended rest periods and reduces commuting frequency, allowing you to select the shift that fits your lifestyle.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precise and safe tooling changes and machine start-ups aligned with production needs.
- Ensure products meet quality standards and assist in resolving product quality concerns.
- Apply troubleshooting expertise to swiftly address die or machine issues.
- Participate in Lean initiatives to minimize waste and enhance change-over efficiency.
- Effectively plan and manage time while being adaptable to shift requirements.
- Maintain exemplary safety practices, housekeeping standards following 6S methodology, and foster teamwork.
- Support continuous improvement and problem-solving projects within the Plastics team.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, proactive, and thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You demonstrate a commitment to precision, quality, safety, and collaborative work to maintain smooth production operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Trade qualification in Die Setting, Plastics Engineering, mechanical, fitter-welder, or similar trades, or equivalent Level 4 manufacturing tooling experience.
- Preferred qualifications include a Trade Certificate in Plastics Engineering, PAMPITO certification, or relevant Level 4 mechanical trade.
- Demonstrated experience as a plastics injection molding die setter, including tool setting, mold changing, and machine start-up.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capability.
- Proficient in planning, communication, and time management.
- Familiarity with Lean principles.
- Dedication to safety, quality, and ongoing improvement.
