Planning Engineer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to manage and supervise planning and scheduling activities for comprehensive civil work components within substantial construction projects. The role requires thorough expertise in project controls and Primavera P6 software, alongside close collaboration with diverse project stakeholders to guarantee adherence to project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, monitor, and update project schedules concentrating on civil construction tasks using Primavera P6.
• Engage with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to acquire planning insights and track progress.
• Synchronize civil and architectural planning schedules to support integrated project execution.
• Generate and provide baseline plans, forward-looking schedules, recovery strategies, and reports concerning delays.
• Track crucial milestones and critical path elements to detect potential project lags and suggest corrective actions.
• Compare actual progress against planned timelines, preparing detailed progress reports, histograms, and S-curve charts.
• Participate actively in technical and progress review meetings with clients and consulting teams.
• Supply inputs for monthly billing, procurement timetables, and materials delivery coordination.
• Perform time impact assessments and assist in preparing documentation for claims or disputes when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
• A minimum of 8 to 10 years of professional experience as a planning engineer within the UAE, GCC countries, or India, preferably on large-scale construction projects such as high-rise buildings, villas, and commercial developments.
• Demonstrated expertise in Primavera P6 along with MS Project and advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong background in project control mechanisms, including cash flow analysis, manpower planning, and overall resource management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, along with comprehensive reporting skills.
• Preference will be given to candidates available for immediate joining.

• Primavera P6 (Oracle) - Essential for scheduling, resource allocation, and time impact analysis, widely adopted in the UAE construction sector.
• MS Project - Used for managing smaller projects or client-related coordination.
• Primavera Risk Analysis (Pertmaster) - Utilized for risk assessment and Monte Carlo simulation.
• Tilos - Applicable for linear infrastructure projects like roads, pipelines, or railways.
• Cost management software - Such as Candy CCS or Primavera Unifier, to align planning with budget control.
• MS Excel (Advanced) - For data analysis, pivot tables, formulas, and dashboard preparation related to progress reporting.
• Power BI / Tableau - Tools growing in importance for KPI visualization and presentation.
• AutoCAD / Navisworks - Basic proficiency helpful for coordination with design and drawings.
• BIM 4D Tools (Synchro / Navisworks Manage) - Usage depending on BIM-based project planning requirements.
• ERP Systems (SAP, Oracle) - Occasionally required for seamless project control integration.
