Job description
Job Overview
As a Piping Engineer at Seatrium, you will oversee and ensure that all operational activities adhere strictly to safety protocols while maintaining superior safety standards. Your role includes planning repair work based on ship owners' defect lists, prioritizing and executing these repairs efficiently with the resources and facilities available.
Key Duties
- Manage and coordinate repair operations according to predefined schedules involving supervisors, yardmen, and contractors following departmental instructions and technical specifications.
- Provide relevant information for maintenance requisitions and participate in vessel safety meetings to uphold safe work environments compliant with statutory, regulatory, and contractual standards.
- Attend production meetings to align work progress, update timelines, and communicate scopes clearly.
- Monitor critical paths to meet project milestones and avoid budget overruns, liaising with Ship Repair Manager and Billing Department regarding work scope changes and additional tasks.
- Ensure all completed work is properly documented and validated by clients.
- Promote cost efficiency through timely material procurement, optimal manpower deployment, and continuous improvement of work methods to meet department KPIs and goals.
- Report non-conformance incidents promptly, collaborating on corrective actions and ensuring proper use of department assets.
- Conduct risk assessments and enforce compliance with Occupational Safety, Health, Environmental, and Safety procedures along with participation in preparation of safe work, environmental control, and emergency procedures as per ISO standards (9001:2015, 45001:2018, 14001:2015).
- Serve in Safe Management or Distancing Officer roles when assigned, and perform additional relevant duties as needed.
Skills and Experience Requirements
- Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, NTC 3 certification, equivalent qualification, or completion of apprenticeship in Marine Piping and Plumbing.
- Preferably minimum 2 years experience in a related position.
- Strong planning, supervisory, conflict resolution, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Proficient problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Multilingual capabilities such as Mandarin, Tamil, or Malay are advantageous.
- Fundamental knowledge of Piping Standards and adherence to codes such as ASME B31.3, ASME IX, and IACS.
- Resourceful, dynamic leader with tact, commitment, teamwork spirit, customer orientation, and the ability to work under pressure.

- Working hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM to 5:15 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
