Job description

Job Overview

Under direct supervision of the Pharmacy Operations Manager or team leader, the Pharmacy Labeler is responsible for accurately and promptly applying labels to medication packages.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Print and produce medication labels.
  • Accurately affix labels to the correct pharmaceutical products in a timely fashion.
  • Assemble and label supplies according to specific contract requirements.
  • Engage in quality assurance processes as directed.
  • Maintain daily general cleanliness of the work department.
  • Properly file documents in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team.
  • Take part in performance improvement initiatives, quality assurance activities, educational programs, and departmental meetings.
  • Perform additional assigned tasks as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior work experience in a fast-paced environment where high accuracy is essential.
  • Reading and comprehension ability for safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology.
  • Competent in basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage, and perform fundamental algebraic calculations.
  • Logical reasoning skills to follow written, oral, or visual instructions accurately.
  • Capability to handle problems involving multiple variables in standard situations.
  • Organized, disciplined, and possessing basic computer skills.

Physical Demands

  • Regular requirement to talk or listen.
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands for packaging tasks, computer work, and reaching.
  • Visual requirements include close, color, night, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjusting focus.
  • Lifting duties appropriate to employee capacity; employees should inform supervisors of any health concerns related to lifting.

Work Environment

  • Potential exposure to fumes or airborne particles during work.
  • Occasional contact with toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Periodic proximity to moving machinery parts.
  • Workplace generally has a moderate noise level.

Location

This role is based onsite in Burnaby, British Columbia.
