About the Role
Bayshore HealthCare invites dedicated and compassionate individuals to join as Homemakers in the Parksville area. This position focuses on enhancing clients' quality of life by providing essential non-medical support services within their homes. Your role will facilitate independence, safety, and emotional well-being for adults, including those facing developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, mental health challenges, and other complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute household cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, doing laundry, dishwashing, and sanitizing bathrooms and kitchens.
- Help clients maintain organized and hazard-free living spaces by assisting with decluttering and establishing daily household routines.
- Adapt to various home environments, some of which may require thorough cleaning and organizational efforts.
- Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and related household duties.
- Offer companionship, motivate independence, and support participation in community and daily living activities.
- Accompany clients to their appointments, errands, and social engagements when needed.
- Monitor and document any changes in client well-being, support needs, or household conditions while maintaining confidentiality.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completion of high school or an equivalent certificate.
- Previous experience in supporting adults with developmental disabilities, autism, mental health, or complex needs is beneficial.
- Background in homemaking, residential or community support, or professional cleaning is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain strong organizational and interpersonal relationships.
- Capability to work autonomously while respecting professional boundaries.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is mandatory.
- Clear criminal record check including vulnerable sector screening.
- Physical fitness to perform demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, reaching, standing for long periods, and completing cleaning duties.

Higher Secondary (Class 12)
