Job description

Role Overview

Become part of a locally owned Shoppers Drug Mart to provide health, beauty, and convenience services with a commitment to placing the customer at the center of your work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly and promptly greet customers, collect prescription information in line with established standards.
  • Perform assigned duties based on the Role Assignment Schedule to ensure priorities are met.
  • Escalate all clinical questions to the pharmacist.
  • Set appropriate expectations for customers regarding prescription wait times.
  • Locate, ring up prescriptions and related ancillary items, managing the dispensary cash register responsibly.
  • Ensure customers requiring pharmacist counseling are referred accordingly.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy of customer information.
  • Receive new and repeat prescriptions following Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Prepare and submit orders excluding controlled substances and narcotics.
  • Handle third-party billing adjudication, online processes, and manual accounts management.
  • Answer incoming calls, referring clinical queries to the pharmacist when necessary.
  • Process incoming faxes in compliance with pharmacy standards and assist pharmacists with callbacks.
  • Accurately file documentation to meet Pharmacy Standards of Practice.
  • Support pharmacy workflow by preparing prescriptions according to company and professional guidelines.
  • Enter data for new prescriptions and efficiently manage refill requests.
  • Select appropriate medications to fill prescriptions following professional standards.
  • Accurately count, measure, package, and label prescriptions as per guidelines.
  • Maintain precise and up-to-date data within pharmacy systems.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Assistant accredited program is preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a pharmacy environment is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational capabilities and multitasking skills are essential.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail.

Compensation

The hourly wage ranges from $17.95 to $20.00, based on your experience, knowledge, and location within Nova Scotia.
