Job Overview
This role involves precise dispensing of medications and medical supplies to patients in strict adherence to prescription and healthcare protocols. The pharmacist will also provide expert guidance on medication usage, ensure compliance with local health regulations, and maintain accurate inventory management within the pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly review and authenticate doctors' prescriptions to verify correct dosages, detect drug interactions, and identify contraindications.
- Dispense medications with high accuracy, offering patients comprehensive instructions on dosage, administration, and possible side effects.
- Oversee the pharmaceutical inventory by tracking stock levels, documenting stock movement, and initiating orders for replenishment as needed.
- Maintain appropriate storage conditions for medications and vaccines based on health authority guidelines.
- Conduct regular checks for expiration dates, isolate expired or compromised drugs, and dispose of them in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Adhere strictly to regulations from authorities like Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Ministry of Health (MOH), and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).
- Keep detailed and lawful records of controlled substances and restricted prescription transactions.
- Offer expert consultation to patients on how to use medicines safely, including storage advice and overall health maintenance.
- Act as a valuable resource for clinical teams including doctors and nurses concerning medication alternatives, dosage adjustments, and drug interactions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) earned from a recognized educational institution.
- Hold a valid professional license or classification granted by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).
