Job Description and Responsibilities

This full-time, on-premises role as a Peace Officer involves ensuring public safety by enforcing municipal and provincial regulations. Daily duties include conducting community patrols, monitoring bylaw compliance, responding to public concerns, investigating incidents, collecting evidence, preparing documentation, and issuing warnings or enforcement actions as necessary. The position requires collaboration with municipal departments and law enforcement agencies, as well as engaging in community outreach and safety education. Maintaining proper records, attending court when warranted, and representing the town professionally are also essential.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of municipal bylaws and provincial legislation.
  • Prior law enforcement experience, particularly in investigations and enforcement.
  • Competency in gathering and properly documenting evidence following legal standards.
  • Dedication to public safety and community-focused problem-solving with strong communication capabilities.
  • Experience with regular and targeted patrol operations.
  • Completion of an accredited peace officer or law enforcement training program and eligibility for required provincial appointments.
  • Proficient report writing and both verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, conflict de-escalation abilities, and comfort working with a diverse population.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and fitness for physical demands of the job.
  • Previous municipal or public safety work considered advantageous.
