Job description

Overview

The Payroll Officer will be responsible for overseeing the entire monthly payroll process with precision, ensuring confidentiality, and adherence to deadlines. This role involves accurate calculation and processing of salaries, allowances, overtime, deductions, leave payments, end-of-service benefits, and other employee financial entitlements in line with company policies and UAE labor laws.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute monthly payroll for all employees within the established timetable.
  • Validate all salary components including base pay, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and advances with necessary approvals.
  • Review attendance, overtime, leave records, and site/business trip validations to ensure accurate payroll inputs.
  • Produce and verify payroll variance reports to investigate any irregularities.
  • Prepare and submit salary disbursement files through the Wage Protection System (WPS), maintaining accurate records and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Update payroll data reflecting new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary changes in coordination with HR.
  • Calculate end-of-service benefits and final settlements abiding by UAE regulations and company policy, coordinating closely with Finance and HR departments.
  • Reconcile payroll data with bank payment records and internal Finance/ERP systems, delivering comprehensive payroll reports and supporting audits.
  • Address employee inquiries related to salary and payroll matters with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ensure payroll operations comply fully with legal regulations, company standards, and internal controls, continuously identifying risks and improvement opportunities.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of practical payroll experience, ideally within the UAE labor market.
  • Profound understanding of UAE payroll procedures including WPS, end-of-service gratuity, leave salary, overtime, and final settlements.
  • Familiarity with HRMS, ERP, or other payroll management systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, inclusive of formulas, pivot tables, and payroll reconciliation.
  • Experience managing payroll for large-scale or multi-location workforces is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of labor-intensive sectors such as construction or manufacturing is preferred.

  • External coordination with Banks, Payroll and WPS service vendors, auditors, and governmental authorities as required.

Confidentiality

The Payroll Officer must uphold the utmost confidentiality regarding employee salaries, personal details, payroll information, banking data, and all sensitive human resources and financial records.
