Overview

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations at a respected organisation in Canberra. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on professional who will guide a small team, ensuring payroll is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time. You will play a significant role in enhancing employee experience and operational success through effective leadership and continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a payroll team, fostering development and performance.
  • Oversee all payroll processing activities and related reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll tax, superannuation, and statutory obligations.
  • Interpret employment contracts and industrial instruments to apply correct payroll rules.

  • Build collaborative relationships with finance, people and culture, and operations teams.
  • Initiate and implement process improvements to optimize payroll functions and employee satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in payroll management or senior payroll roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience leading payroll teams within complex organisational settings.
