Role Overview
The Payroll Manager will take charge of end-to-end payroll administration for a nationwide employee base. Key responsibilities include managing intricate payroll transactions such as terminations, redundancies, adjustments, and manual calculations while ensuring compliance with awards, legislation, and employment terms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the complete payroll processing cycle for a multi-site workforce.
- Handle complex payroll activities including terminations, redundancies, adjustments, and manual calculations.
- Ensure payroll meets compliance with awards, legislation, and employment conditions.
- Manage monthly payroll tasks including payroll tax, superannuation, PAYG, and reports.
- Serve as the escalation contact for intricate payroll issues.
- Mentor and develop payroll team members.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and operational leaders to deliver accurate payroll outcomes.
- Identify and implement improvements, automation, and efficiency enhancements.
- Support payroll system upgrades and broader business transformation efforts.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in a Payroll Manager, Senior Payroll, or Team Lead role.
- Proven ability managing end-to-end payroll for large and complex workforces.
- Solid understanding of payroll legislation, awards, National Employment Standards, and compliance.
- Experienced in handling payroll for operations spread across multiple sites.
- Proficient with payroll systems and intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Outstanding communication skills and stakeholder management.
- Proactive problem solver focused on continuous improvement.
- Background in construction, infrastructure, trade services, or similar industries is advantageous.
