Job description
Overview
The Painting Supervisor position involves overseeing and managing all painting, blasting, and protective coating tasks at project sites. This role ensures that these activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in line with approved project plans, timelines, quality benchmarks, and client expectations. The painting supervisor leads painting teams and organizes daily operations to meet productivity and quality goals while strictly following health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily operations of blasting, surface preparation, and painting work.
- Strategically assign manpower, machinery, materials, and work zones based on project demands.
- Confirm that all surfaces are suitably prepared before applying paint.
- Oversee abrasive blasting, cleaning, primer application, intermediate coatings, and final finishing processes.
- Verify correct usage of paint products, coating systems, mixing protocols, and application techniques.
- Monitor environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, dew point, and substrate temperature prior to and during painting.
- Ensure that required coating thicknesses and application standards are consistently met.
- Manage touch-up, repair, and rework efforts as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping of work areas after task completion.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a diploma or technical certificate in Painting, Mechanical Engineering, Construction, or a similar field is preferred.
- Additional certifications or technical training in painting/coating is advantageous.
- HSE training or certification relevant to the field is preferred.
- At least 5 to 10 years of experience performing industrial painting and protective coating work.
- Preferably minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Proven track record working in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, refinery, LNG, offshore, or industrial construction and maintenance projects.
- Experience overseeing blasting, surface preparation, industrial painting, and protective coating crews.
- Background in managing large-scale EPC projects, shutdowns, turnarounds, maintenance, or construction is an advantage.
