Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Painter will play a crucial role in preserving the hotel's visual appeal by performing painting and maintenance tasks across interior and exterior areas. The individual will be responsible for surface preparation, executing painting and touch-ups, and maintaining tools to ensure the hotel’s standards of safety, quality, and aesthetic excellence. Minimizing disturbance to guests and hotel functions during work is essential.
- Conduct painting, repainting, touch-ups, and artistic finishing throughout hotel premises.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling, and fixing any surface defects prior to painting.
- Apply paint on guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, offices, and other hotel facilities as needed.
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance painting as planned by hotel management.
- Select and use appropriate types of paints, coatings, and finishing products correctly.
- Maintain, clean, and properly store all painting tools and materials after use.
- Ensure work zones are tidy, safe, and well-organized during and after completing tasks.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines established by the hotel.
- Respond quickly to painting and maintenance requests from various hotel departments.
- Report significant surface damages or defects immediately to the Engineering Supervisor.
- Minimize guest inconvenience during painting activities, particularly in occupied areas.
- Assist with other engineering and general maintenance duties as directed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Preferred candidates possess a Certificate or Diploma in Painting, Building Maintenance, Construction, or similar disciplines.
- At least one year of practical experience working as a Painter, ideally within hotels, resorts, commercial buildings, or facilities management sectors.
- Strong familiarity with various painting methods, surface preparation protocols, and finishing techniques.
- Competency in handling different painting materials, coatings, and toolsets.
- Basic understanding of maintenance and repair processes related to building upkeep.
- Understanding and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- High attention to detail ensuring finish quality aligns with hotel standards.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Physically capable of performing duties, including working at heights where necessary.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays when required.
