Role Overview
The Packaging Operative is responsible for daily packaging operations within the Central Bakery & Kitchen (CBK), focusing heavily on food product handling. This role involves preparing, packaging, and labeling food items on the production line while ensuring adherence to quality controls and HACCP safety standards. Candidates will work in fast-paced environments that include both ambient and chilled conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Pack, seal, and label food products efficiently, often at high speeds.
- Inspect products meticulously for defects, contamination, or damage prior to packaging.
- Set up and operate packaging machinery with the ability to perform minor adjustments as needed.
- Comply with strict health, safety, and hygiene protocols, including use of PPE such as hairnets, beard snoods, gloves, coats, and safety footwear.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
- Accurately complete daily documentation for packaging and labeling activities.
- Transport packaged items to designated racks, dispatch crates, or storage zones.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong attention to detail ensuring quality standards and specifications are met.
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive manual activities.
- Effective team collaboration and communication, including reporting any faults to supervisors.
- Basic literacy skills to read instructions, manage labeling, and verify product quantities.
- Punctuality and strong work ethic.
- No prior formal experience required; training will be provided on-site.
- Experience in manufacturing, food production, or warehouse settings is desirable.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet production deadlines is essential.
