Job Overview
The Optical Technician is responsible for identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate optical products such as frames, lenses, contact lenses, and sunglasses. This role involves driving sales through upselling, cross-selling, and executing promotions while ensuring a professional, engaging customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify customer requirements and suggest suitable optical products.
- Enhance sales by driving conversion, upselling, and cross-selling efforts.
- Meet individual sales goals and contribute to overall store performance.
- Provide a professional and engaging customer journey from inquiry to purchase.
- Effectively address customer questions and handle basic complaints.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships and loyalty.
- Accurately interpret and understand optical prescriptions.
- Assist with product fitting, adjustments, and selections as needed.
- Support opticians with technical requirements when requested.
- Verify prescriptions, fittings, and product specifications accurately.
- Ensure products are free from defects and match customer orders completely.
- Work to prevent errors in delivery and resolve issues prior to handover.
- Process sales transactions correctly using the POS system.
- Assist with insurance approvals and documentation processes.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures consistently.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and proper product handling.
- Report any product shortages, damages, or discrepancies promptly.
- Stay knowledgeable about product categories and updates.
- Collaborate with the team to meet store sales targets.
- Support opticians and sales colleagues during high-demand periods.
- Contribute positively to a productive and collaborative workplace.
- Maintain professional, ethical behavior and comply with safety standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned within the job scope.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Strong sales abilities and excellent customer service skills.
- Basic knowledge of optical and technical processes.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) and insurance systems.
- High attention to detail with a quality-focused approach.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure as a team player.
- 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree from a technical institute specializing in optics.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
- Holders of SCFHS certification/license.
