PACU Registered Nurse

Job Overview

This role involves delivering superior nursing care rooted in evidence-based practices, aimed at improving patients' health in a clinical environment. The PACU Registered Nurse assesses patient conditions, creates and updates nursing care plans, administers treatments, and maintains thorough medical records. This position requires close collaboration with physicians and healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform initial and continuous patient health assessments, including physical exams and monitoring vital signs and symptoms.
• Develop, execute, and revise individualized care plans in coordination with healthcare professionals.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments while observing for any adverse effects.
• Manage wound care, ensuring proper cleaning, dressing, and infection monitoring.
• Assist medical staff during procedures and diagnostics.
• Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and prevention strategies.
• Monitor and document changes in patient condition, promptly reporting significant developments to the medical team.
• Provide immediate response in medical emergencies.
• Conduct purposeful rounding to address patient needs, prevent complications, and enhance care quality.
• Maintain compliance with infection control protocols including hygiene standards and appropriate use of protective equipment.
• Participate in infection control surveillance efforts to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
• Ensure cleanliness of patient items and equipment as per facility policies.
• Follow established emergency response protocols (codes, RRT) to secure patient safety.
• Implement innovative, evidence-based practices to improve patient care outcomes.
• Maintain detailed and accurate patient care documentation, including observations and interventions.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure coordinated care delivery.
• Provide emotional support and advocacy for patients and their families, respecting cultural diversity and incorporating patient values into care plans.
• Guide and supervise junior nurses and nursing students as necessary.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and social workers.
• Identify and address patient care challenges, contributing to ongoing practice enhancements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned within the nursing manager's scope.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and service orientation skills.
• Ability to handle work pressures and collaborate effectively in team settings.
• Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and typing.
• Clerical abilities such as preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes, and scanning documents.
• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience.
• Graduates or nurses with less than one year experience will undergo an RN residency program.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or an equivalent qualification.
• Excellent command of English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
• Licensure from the nurse's country of origin and regional health authority (e.g., SCFHS or DHA).
• Certifications including BLS, ACLS, and other life support training courses as applicable.
