Job Overview

Higgins Surfacing invites motivated individuals to join their Palmerston North team as Operators/Labourers. This role is permanent and full-time, guaranteeing a minimum of 40 work hours weekly. You will collaborate within a skilled crew to deliver chip sealing and asphalt surfacing projects across the region, playing an essential role in the safe and effective construction and upkeep of New Zealand's road infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

• Contribute actively as part of a high-performing team in fast-paced environments.
• Perform physical labour and operational tasks related to chip sealing, asphalt surfacing, and civil construction projects.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and wellbeing standards at all times while working outdoors.
• Demonstrate flexibility to work night shifts, weekends, and undertake travel when necessary.
• Consistently deliver high-quality outcomes with pride and attention to detail.

Qualifications and Attributes Required

• Possession of a valid Full Class 1 driver's licence; additional endorsements such as Class 2, 4, and WTR are a strong advantage.
• Prior experience in road surfacing, chip sealing, civil construction, or similar industries is preferred.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills paired with a positive and reliable attitude.
• Physically fit to manage manual labour demands associated with the role.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
