Operations and Platform Engineer - Traffic Infrastructure

About the Team

The Traffic Infrastructure team is responsible for managing a unified global edge infrastructure platform covering regions both inside and outside China. This infrastructure combines self-built and third-party resources to deliver standardized, compliant, scalable, and cost-efficient traffic infrastructure capabilities to edge services. The team aims to establish a global edge traffic infrastructure platform that serves as a foundational and sustainable backbone for ByteDance's worldwide edge operations, focusing on scale, performance, and cost optimization.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and develop the architectural framework and engineering of the network traffic infrastructure's operation, maintenance, and efficiency platform.
• Develop systems including Configuration Management Database (CMDB), automation for operations and maintenance, observability tools, stability monitoring, and change management for the network traffic infrastructure.
• Create interactive designs and develop efficiency tools to enhance operational management for network traffic infrastructure services.
• Investigate and implement intelligent operation and maintenance scenarios, facilitating the evolution toward smarter system operation and maintenance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field with minimum 3 years of experience in research and development, system operations, maintenance, or site reliability engineering (SRE).
• Strong foundational knowledge in computer science theories.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go, C, or Python.
• Excellent analytical skills, strong communication capabilities, a sense of responsibility, and teamwork orientation.
• Passion for programming and continuous learning, coupled with curiosity and ambition.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with system engineering relating to large-scale distributed systems, management platforms, or operation and maintenance platforms.
• Familiarity with infrastructure design, including Kubernetes, edge computing, cloud networking, load balancing, and microservice architectures.
• In-depth understanding of distributed systems, microservices, high availability solutions, system stability maintenance, and emergency response procedures.
• Hands-on exploration experience with large language models (LLM) and Agent development.
