OpenStack Engineering Manager

Overview

We are seeking an OpenStack Engineering Manager based in Saudi Arabia to lead a distributed engineering team tasked with managing modern private-cloud infrastructure for clients worldwide. This role blends technical leadership with people management, service delivery, and continuous improvement in engineering processes. The position operates at the crossroads of OpenStack, Kubernetes, Linux, cloud technologies, and managed services. Key Responsibilities

• Manage and expand an engineering team responsible for daily managed services of customer cloud environments, balancing development and operational tasks.
• Implement and refine processes, workflows, and best practices to boost engineering quality and delivery speed.
• Track key team health metrics and leverage insights to elevate performance, collaboration, and operational efficiency.
• Enforce disciplined engineering and operational procedures ensuring consistent, reliable, and maintainable services.
• Act as a liaison with customers, internal stakeholders, product engineering groups, and external teams.
• Maintain clear alignment on priorities, milestones, deliverables, and customer commitments across various environments.
• Guarantee customer deployments meet defined service levels and that managed services are delivered punctually and consistently.
• Work collaboratively with clients, product teams, and operations to resolve issues and seek continuous improvement opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in a technology-related discipline.
• Proven experience in software delivery involving languages like Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or equivalent, or in managing technical operations teams.
• Established background working with OpenStack technologies.
• Deep understanding of software testing methods, code maintainability, and engineering quality standards.
• Experience in Linux system administration; familiarity with Ubuntu or Debian preferred.
• Technical aptitude for comprehending complex distributed systems, cloud infrastructures, and modern cloud technology stacks.
• Hands-on experience with Agile development methodologies and disciplined engineering practices.
• Experience in managing geographically distributed teams.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills, capable of bridging technical and customer-facing interactions.
• Willing and able to travel up to 20% for team and customer events.
