About SouthRoads and Role Overview
Join SouthRoads, a leading civil construction and maintenance contractor servicing the lower South Island of New Zealand, part of the HWR Group. We offer diverse infrastructure solutions including road maintenance, construction, surfacing, stabilisation, asset management, and emergency responses. We are currently inviting applications for a Network Inspector to become an integral part of our Clutha Maintenance team in Balclutha. This is an engaging, hands-on position responsible for inspecting the local road network, identifying maintenance needs, managing Customer Service Requests, and overseeing work crews and subcontractors to maintain safety and compliance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of roads to identify defects in pavement, shoulders, and roadside areas.
- Evaluate maintenance requirements and recommend appropriate repair or treatment methods.
- Manage Customer Service Requests, including investigation, response coordination, scheduling, and closure.
- Support and coordinate pavement stabilisation and resealing program delivery.
- Communicate with work crews and subcontractors to ensure safe and effective completion of tasks.
- Maintain comprehensive inspection records, work histories, and asset data using RAMM.
- Assist in monthly programming and prioritizing work activities.
- Interface with Clutha District Council representatives on maintenance demands and customer inquiries.
- Monitor compliance with quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Respond promptly to network issues and emergency situations as needed.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience in road maintenance, construction, or network inspection functions.
- Familiarity with pavement defects, edge breaks, and stabilisation and resealing activities.
- Skill in identifying and prioritizing maintenance tasks.
- Effective communication and customer service abilities.
- Experience using RAMM or comparable asset management systems.
- Strong organizational and planning capabilities.
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental protocols within civil construction.
- Ability to work autonomously and make informed decisions onsite.
- Current full Class 1 driver license.
