Multi-Skilled Engineer with Electrical Focus

Overview

G4S Facilities Management is seeking a committed Multi-Skilled Engineer primarily focused on electrical tasks for a permanent, full-time position based at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater. This role combines predominantly on-site fixed duties with occasional mobile assignments servicing multiple sites, ensuring maintenance and repair of electrical and other mechanical assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled inspections, diagnose faults, and conduct repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment such as heating, water, ventilation, electrical, and security installations.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programs and undertake minor electrical installation tasks following technical schematics and operation and maintenance manuals.
• Respond safely to equipment failures or damage, including participating in an emergency call-out system onsite.
• Support project delivery or temporarily cover site managers and engineers when required.
• Document maintenance actions comprehensively through technical reporting and procedural documentation.
• Work with both skilled and semi-skilled team members to enhance cross-training and the sharing of expertise.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

• Must possess or qualify for an ECS Gold Card with a minimum JIB Electrician grade.
• Demonstrable experience in building and facility upkeep.
• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Electrotechnical theory or Electrical Insulation combined with Level 3 18th Edition (BS 7671:2018).
• Clean and valid full driving license.
• Target certification includes Level 3 Initial Verification and periodic inspection and testing.

Preferred Credentials

• Certifications for operation of MEWPs (IPAF) and mobile scaffolding (PASMA).
• Advanced diagnostic abilities with single- and three-phase electrical systems.
• Experience conducting Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs).
• Comprehensive knowledge of emergency lighting standards (BS 5266).
• CompEx 01-04 accreditation for hazardous/explosive environments.

The role involves a permanent 40-hour work week with a rotating 4 days on, 4 days off shift schedule running from 6 AM to 6 PM.
