FGW Roofing Pty Ltd is actively seeking a skilled Metal Roofer to join their workforce in Canberra, ACT. This role involves full-time, on-site engagement covering installation, repair, and maintenance of metal roofing systems for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. The successful candidate will be critical in upholding the company's reputation through the provision of high-caliber roofing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Installing metal roofs using steel, aluminium, copper, and similar materials according to architectural blueprints and building regulations.
• Measuring, cutting, and forming metal sheets and panels to match roofing dimensions and designs.
• Securing metal components with suitable fasteners, applying sealants, and installing flashing correctly.
• Repairing and maintaining existing metal roofing by detecting and fixing leaks, damage, and natural wear.
• Performing duties at heights safely with the appropriate fall protection equipment and abiding by health and safety legislation.
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, plans, and project specifications.
• Collaborating with other tradespeople and supervisors to ensure smooth project execution.
• Conducting thorough inspections of completed projects to comply with industry standards.
• Keeping tools and equipment well maintained and operational.

Candidate Requirements

• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven practical experience as a Metal Roofer in the construction trades.
• Strong knowledge of metal roofing materials such as steel, aluminium, copper, and zinc systems.
• Competence in handling roofing tools including power tools, hand tools, and safety harnesses.
• Familiarity with Australian building codes, safety rules, and construction standards applicable to roofing.
• Good physical condition to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Capability to work independently and within a team framework.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between worksites.
• Current First Aid certification and a White Card (Construction Induction Card) are mandatory.
• Trade qualifications or certifications in roofing (such as Certificate III in Roofing) are preferred.
