Merchandiser

Job Overview

This position involves merchandising products at high-volume retail locations such as grocery stores. Responsibilities include stocking shelves, rotating inventory, managing cooler stock, organizing storage rooms, and moving merchandise from storage to sales floors while maintaining excellent store relationships.

Primary Duties

• Stock and merchandise shelves, coolers, and in-store displays within assigned accounts.
• Rotate products to ensure freshness both on shelves and in backrooms.
• Transport merchandise between stock rooms and sales areas using appropriate equipment like hand trucks and pallet jacks.
• Display promotional materials including signs and banners as directed.
• Maintain neatness and order in backroom stock areas.
• Communicate any store-related concerns to store managers and company leadership.
• Build positive relationships with store personnel to facilitate smooth operations.
• Adhere to company procedures such as scan-in/scan-out and follow assigned routes.
• Provide services during scheduled times as set by management.
• Deliver excellent customer service by maintaining effective communication and attentiveness.
• Operate independently with minimal supervision, utilizing handheld devices for order entry.
• Maintain consistent, reliable attendance.

Candidate Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to pass a physical capability test when required.
• Possess reliable personal transportation to access multiple store locations during shifts.
• Hold a valid U.S. driver's license and proof of insurance.

Preferred Experience

• Background in retail or grocery operations, including understanding store layouts and inventory management.
• Experience moving merchandise safely using equipment such as u-boats, dollies, or hand trucks.
• Familiarity with merchandising tasks like shelf stocking, display building, cleaning, product rotation, and managing expiration dates.
• Skill in organizing and maintaining backroom inventory.
• Customer service experience including responding to requests and resolving complaints.

Additional Details

This role is physically demanding, involving lifting cases weighing between 20-45 pounds, bending, reaching, and squatting. The regular schedule is Friday through Tuesday, with variations depending on route requirements. Mileage reimbursement is provided when personal vehicles are used for company routes.
