Role Overview

As a Merchandise Processing Team Member, you play a key role behind the scenes, ensuring a seamless thrift shopping experience. You will maintain organized, clean sales floors, process incoming merchandise accurately, and provide friendly assistance when needed. Your positive energy, dependability, and teamwork will help create a welcoming store environment that aligns with Talize's values.

Primary Responsibilities

• Examine, sort, tag, grade, and price new merchandise according to company guidelines.
• Arrange items on rolling racks by type, size, and color.
• Support donation management, floor set changes, restocking, and preparation for sale days.
• Maintain continuous merchandise flow by performing daily routines like sorting and labeling bins with correct color tags.
• Uphold safety protocols by keeping the processing area clean and hazard-free, using PPE correctly, and reporting any unsafe conditions.
• Collaborate with the team during daily meetings, communicate effectively with peers and supervisors, and assist with general housekeeping to sustain a respectful and efficient work environment.

Candidate Profile

• Detail-oriented with a keen ability to maintain consistency and catch mistakes others might overlook.
• Comfortable thriving in a dynamic, physically active workplace.
• Exemplifies a positive, team-centered attitude and communicates clearly and respectfully.
• Experience in warehouse operations, back-of-house retail roles, or inventory processing is advantageous.
• Familiarity with thrift merchandise condition grading and the use of PPE and basic safety measures is a plus.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach frequently throughout shifts.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and maneuvering rolling containers weighing up to 500 pounds.
• Exposure to environment factors such as dust, dirt, insects, and occasional rodents.
• Work takes place in noisy areas with variable temperatures.
• Must be available for shifts during days, evenings, weekends, holidays, including closing shifts.
• Frequent interaction with customers and the public is expected.
