Mechanical Senior Supervisor

Role Overview

The Mechanical Senior Supervisor will be an experienced and highly skilled mechanical technician and leader responsible for a broad range of detailed maintenance tasks on the Typhoon aircraft and its components. The individual must possess thorough knowledge of approved technical documentation and the ability to supervise staff performing maintenance in line with the organization's regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and diagnose faults in aircraft systems, equipment, and assemblies; follow diagnostic procedures and collaborate effectively within a team; mentor less experienced colleagues in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform detailed inspections, maintenance, and supervision on the Typhoon aircraft and its components ensuring all work aligns with authorized technical data and work packages;
• Carry out task-oriented maintenance and diagnostic assignments, including ground handling, flight servicing, role configuration, removal and installation of components, inspections, fault rectification, repairs, modifications, and functional/system testing.
• Demonstrate flexibility and proactively undertake responsibilities assigned, adapting to direction as required.
• Maintain personal authorization to conduct aircraft or component maintenance tasks in compliance with standards.
• Ensure maintenance schedules are met, resolve issues expediently, and escalate challenges appropriately.
• Evaluate faults during maintenance and generate work orders for unplanned findings.
• Supervise team activities to guarantee adherence to scheduled maintenance; identify and escalate any issues and report their impact on the overall program.
• Confirm team members' competency levels and approvals for allocated tasks.
• Support compliance within the aircraft/component maintenance environment by performing oversight duties such as tooling control and adherence to Functionally Mandated Procedures (FMPs).
• Lead and develop personnel utilizing formal evaluation processes such as Performance Development Reviews (PDRs), encourage and sponsor training opportunities including on-the-job training, and communicate complex information effectively.
• Perform independent scope assessments and critical inspections.
• Maintain a personal Log Book documenting currency and recency through completion of on-the-job training; endorse other staff logbooks within authorized limits.
• If qualified as a designated assessor, authorize task competencies and oversee Pt 145 license application documentation prior to approval.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Completed Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent military apprenticeship/qualification.
• Minimum academic qualification of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or an equivalent credential.
• Aircraft platform training specific to the role.
• Extensive product knowledge and technical competency within the specialist area.
• Understanding of team integration to meet overall objectives and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Proven leadership ability with at least two years of prior technician-level experience before moving into a supervisory role.
• Demonstrated skill, currency, and recency through a Log Book documenting experience and qualifications related to the aircraft type or maintenance bays.
• Practical knowledge of aviation safety standards and safe operating procedures.
• Comprehensive understanding of Expositions and Functionally Mandated Procedures management, supported by training.
• Experience in conducting Performance Development Reviews (PDR).
• Strong adherence to safety through compliance with risk assessments and SHE policies.
• Completion of specialized Typhoon Mechanical Trade courses including Composite Flight Servicing and the Mechanical Trade ‘Q’ Course.
• Training in Leadership Foundations, Human Factors, E&PW Awareness, and ITAR Awareness.
