About the Role

We seek a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia, offering a balanced lifestyle in a supportive community environment, career development, and collaboration with a talented team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct technical studies, analyses, and consultations to support facility operations.
- Define and develop detailed requirements for modifications, replacements, or upgrades of facility infrastructure, equipment, and systems.
- Design and devise solutions addressing moderately to highly complex mechanical engineering challenges.
- Review and advise on proposed changes to facility infrastructure, from concept to detailed design.
- Perform engineering calculations underpinning infrastructure operation and design.
- Offer technical guidance on system reliability, operation, maintenance, lifecycle management, and cost considerations.
- Prepare Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates for facility upgrades and recapitalization.
- Assess operational systems and infrastructure to identify optimization opportunities.
- Maintain and promote workplace and site health and safety standards.
- Undertake additional reasonable duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Credentials
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Valid driver's license.
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance (for non-Australian Citizens) or Australian citizenship eligible for Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Department of Defence clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualifications in any relevant discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) certification.
Experience and Skills
- Familiarity with HVAC, hydronic systems, data center cooling solutions, and building management/control systems.
- At least one year of experience in building management/control systems and facility operation and maintenance.
- Project management and leadership experience is advantageous.
Work Environment and Physical/Mental Demands
The role involves a typical office setting with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting up to 10 kg, and activities such as kneeling, standing, walking, constant sitting, and reliance on verbal communication. The position requires mental alertness and the ability to meet deadlines.
Security Clearance
Employees must secure and maintain the appropriate security clearance and medical clearance, including Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) as mandated by the Department of Defence.
Additional Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old and fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Commitment to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) procedures, including safe work practices and proactive reporting of hazards.
- Adherence to quality management systems and compliance with operational, safety, and environmental policies.
- Pre-employment screening includes reference checks, criminal history verification, medical assessment, and drug screening.
- Employment condition requires Australian citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.
