Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a meticulous and skilled Quality Engineer specializing in both Electrical and Mechanical domains, with 3 to 5 years of direct experience. The successful applicant will be accountable for preserving quality benchmarks, conducting thorough testing of electrical and mechanical components, ensuring all processes comply with standards, and rigorously managing IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard) documentation and audit procedures.

Electrical Quality Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections and tests on incoming electrical raw materials, components, and inventories to validate conformity with required specifications prior to production commencement.
  • Track and document non-compliance issues and defect rates during incoming and in-process stages for electrical items, managing rejection processes effectively.
  • Execute root cause analysis (RCA) for failures in electrical components and rejection incidents, then enforce corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurrence.
  • Examine control panels and wiring assemblies comparing with schematic diagrams, ensuring correct wire routing, ferrule tagging, proper crimping, and continuity.

Mechanical Quality Responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed dimensional checks on mechanical parts and complete assemblies, using precision instruments like Vernier calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
  • Interpret and apply 2D and 3D engineering drawings (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) to ensure all fabrications and machining meet tolerance requirements.
  • Assess welding quality, surface finishing, and coating or painting thickness for mechanical components.
  • Manage material testing activities, including hardness and tensile strength evaluations of incoming raw mechanical materials.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Educational background: Diploma or B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Between 3 to 5 years in Quality Assurance or Quality Control roles within manufacturing environments, preferably in Railway, Automotive, or Heavy Engineering industries.
