HVAC Technician

Job Overview

This role involves conducting preventative maintenance and repairing HVAC equipment pursuant to a USAF contract. The technician will execute routine and simple HVACR maintenance tasks under general guidance using detailed instructions and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Support or independently carry out maintenance on high- and low-pressure steam heating systems as permitted by instructions.
• Assist with installation, servicing, and repairs of HVAC systems, including belt inspections and filter changes.
• Mount compressors and condensers on related auxiliary equipment and components.
• Perform minor HVACR equipment maintenance based on verbal or written directions, aligned with qualifications and licensing.
• Carry out additional site support duties related to HVACR maintenance as assigned.
• Provide preventive maintenance and repairs for chillers, air handlers, ductwork, thermostats, package units, refrigerants, pump houses, and other components located in various facilities, including tension fabric shelters at the military base.
• Comply with refrigerant management programs by monitoring, recording, and disposing refrigerants per Clean Air Act, OEBGD, CENTCOM, and host nation environmental standards.
• Proper disposal of spent or expired refrigerants at designated hazardous waste points.
• Adhere to ANSI/ASHRAE standards for maintaining and inspecting HVAC systems.
• Fulfill additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
• Obtain and retain facility credentials/authorization; US citizenship is mandatory for access at this location.
• A verified minimum of five years’ experience or equivalent military service in HVAC AFSC/MOS.
• Possession of certifications such as NATE, Eurovent Certita (or equivalent international HVAC certifications), EPA Universal CFC/HCFC refrigerant processing certificate, copper brazing qualification, forklift Class III certification (2000–10,000 lbs.), and powered industrial truck training for skid-steer loaders.
• Fully qualified or previously certified at USAF 5-level or equivalent, with a minimum of three years working on USAF systems.
• Hold a valid state driver’s license with qualifications to operate government general-purpose vehicles.
