Information Systems Security Officer

About the Role

Amentum, a leading global engineering and solutions integration company, seeks a dedicated Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) at its Alice Springs, NT location. The ISSO will work closely under the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM), assisting in creating and managing information systems security policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure operational compliance and protection.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct regular audits to confirm that information systems adhere to security authorization standards and report changes that impact system authorization.
• Coordinate with ISSM and Authorizing Officials (AO/DAO) prior to implementing hardware, software, or firmware modifications.
• Oversee system recovery processes to verify that security features are properly restored and functioning.
• Maintain up-to-date security documentation, ensure accessibility for authorized personnel, and review audit logs for any anomalies.
• Complete required technical and security training relevant to duties, including operating systems, networking, and security management.
• Manage cybersecurity aspects of self-inspection processes and participate in system assessment plan reviews.
• Detect cybersecurity vulnerabilities and aid in deploying appropriate countermeasures.
• Report on the status of security safeguards for computer systems.
• Comply with environmental health and safety requirements on site.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, Security+, or equivalent.
• MCSA certification or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in an ISSO role; extensive relevant work experience accompanied by IA certifications can substitute for the degree.
• Familiarity with Intelligence Community Directive 503 (ICD 503) and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
• Compliance with DoD 8570.1 Certification for Information Assurance Technical Category II (IAT II) or higher.
• Preference for experience with Linux operating systems.
• Prior roles may include System Administrator, Network Administrator, or ISSO.
• Proficient in databases, spreadsheets, and technical report writing.
• Excellent communication skills capable of briefing senior leadership.
• Strong team collaboration, adaptability to change, positive attitude, and focus on customer service.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license is desirable.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Ability to independently lift up to 10 kilograms.
• Regular physical activities include walking, sitting, manual handling, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, speaking, and hearing.
• Standing may be required occasionally.

Security Clearance and Compliance

• Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to acquire and maintain a minimum TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Must be at least 18 years old and fluent in English.

Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Responsibilities

• Adhering to all site EHS policies and procedures.
• Executing tasks safely and reporting unsafe conditions promptly.
• Authority to stop work if conditions compromise safety or environmental integrity.

Quality Assurance

• Follow company quality program to ensure services meet customer expectations.
• Comply with all operational, safety, quality, and environmental policies related to job duties.
