Mechanical Design Specialist

Role Overview

As a Mechanical Design Specialist within the European Chiller Engineering Team, you will be pivotal in designing and evolving industrial chiller products targeting the European market. Your focus will be to develop and maintain comprehensive 3D CAD designs using Creo, ensuring strict adherence to European regulations, engineering standards, manufacturing protocols, and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical design assignments from conceptualization through to production release.
• Create and update precise 3D models and assemblies in Creo that comply with engineering, regulatory, and product specifications.
• Engineer manufacturable solutions aligned with production capacities and DFM principles.
• Design major components such as piping, structural frameworks, sheet metal assemblies, and mechanical subsystems.
• Coordinate with manufacturing sites in Izmir and Nantes to grasp production demands and constraints including piping routing, bending radii, fabrication processes, and assembly techniques.
• Ensure design artifacts are rigorously controlled in the Product Data Management (PDM) system adhering to company documentation policies and revision control.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, procurement, and suppliers to integrate available technologies, components, and materials into design.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues spanning design, manufacturing, suppliers, and production teams.
• Apply engineering standards, manufacturing specifications, and regulatory compliance throughout design stages.
• Assist in developing engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and supporting product documentation.
• Proactively identify and mitigate design risks to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Communicate design concepts and technical solutions effectively across multidisciplinary and international teams.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers and drafters, sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Support engineering teams with component selection, airflow dynamics, heat transfer needs, weight balancing, and integration of electromechanical systems.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• 3 to 5 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Advanced competency in Creo for 3D CAD design and drafting.
• Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems and managing engineering change requests.
• Deep understanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal work, piping systems, assembly methods, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) strategies.
• Experienced in preparing detailed engineering drawings and generating BOMs.
• Ability to interpret and apply engineering standards, specifications, and manufacturing needs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills capable of managing stakeholders effectively.
• Confident, proactive communicator comfortable with influencing and challenging when necessary.
• Motivated to learn continuously and develop technically.
• Adaptable to fast-paced environments and capable of managing shifting priorities elegantly.
• Team-oriented with a problem-solving approach.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in HVAC, cooling systems, industrial machinery, or similar engineered-to-order manufacturing fields.
• Experience working closely with production plants and suppliers during design phases.
• Knowledge of European standards and product compliance regulations.

Work Details and Travel

• Location: Dublin, with expected office presence four days weekly.
• Travel: Occasional European trips, usually up to three yearly, mainly for plant visits and project meetings.
