Mechanical Commissioning Engineer

Role Overview

The role focuses on ensuring mechanical systems such as HVAC, chilled water, pumps, and ventilation are properly commissioned in construction projects. This involves reviewing design documents, preparing detailed commissioning documentation, executing pre-commissioning checks, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure systems meet performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze approved drawings, specifications, and equipment submittals related to HVAC, chilled water, pumping, and ventilation to verify installation readiness.
• Develop commissioning plans, method statements, test procedures, and inspection checklists aligned with project specifications.
• Carry out pre-commissioning activities and conduct functional tests, including verification of control systems and Building Management System (BMS) interfaces.
• Collaborate with contractors, Testing Adjusting and Balancing (TAB) teams, controls experts, and equipment suppliers for testing and inspections; monitor and document deficiency resolutions and retesting processes.
• Compile commissioning documentation, maintain accurate test records, assist with final inspections, prepare Operations & Maintenance (O&M) documents, and facilitate system handover.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
• At least 4 years of experience in testing and commissioning within construction projects related to mechanical building services.
• Strong practical understanding of HVAC units, chilled water systems, pumps, ventilation equipment, and their control systems.
• Capability to interpret complex technical drawings, draft commissioning documentation, and effectively liaise with site personnel and consulting engineers.
